Our doctors have qualified themselves by years of training in orthopaedic surgery and each year spend several weeks attending conferences and seminars to keep abreast of new developments in orthopaedic care.

Fred A. Rice. Jr., M.D.

Dr. Rice earned his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School in Dallas. He then completed his Internship at Weld County General Hospital in Greeley, Colorado. Dr. Rice moved to Kansas City for his Orthopedic Residency training at Kansas City General Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital. After serving for two years abroad in the United States Army, Dr. Rice returned to Kansas City, Kansas and joined Orthopaedic Professional Association, Inc. in 1970. Dr. Rice was certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1970.

Frederic M. Gilhousen, M.D.

Dr. Gilhousen earned his undergraduate degree in bio-chemistry from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. He earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. Dr. Gilhousen completed his Internship at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas and then served two years in the United States Air Force. Returning to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma he completed his Residency training, which included an Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship at Ranch Los Amigos Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Gilhousen returned to Kansas City, Kansas and joined Orthopaedic Professional Association, Inc. in 1973. Dr. Gilhousen was certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1974 He has served as president of the Wyandotte County Medical Society and an lnstructor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

Robert M. Murphy, M.D.

Dr. Murphy earned his undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in chemistry and philosophy from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri. He earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. Dr. Murphy completed his Internship and Residency training at UCLA-LA County Harbor General Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Murphy completed a hand surgery and spine surgery fellowship in 1973 and 1979, respectively. He worked at Sierra Nevada Memorial - Miners Hospitals in Grass Valley, California from 1975-1977 and 1979-1984. Dr. Murphy returned to Kansas City in 1977 to Truman Medical Center and University of Missouri-Kansas City to be Chief, Orthopaedic Surgery Section and Assistant Professor. In 1984, Dr. Murphy returned to Kansas City, Kansas and joined Orthopaedic Professional Association, Inc. in 1987. Dr. Murphy has served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and member of the Medical Staff Executive Committee of Providence Medical Center since 1989. Dr. Murphy was certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1976. Dr. Murphy received his Masters in Business Administration from Baker University in May of 1995.

Mark J. Maguire, M.D.

Dr. Maguire earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. He earned his medical degree from The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Maguire completed his Internship and Residency from The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. Dr. Maguire moved to Kansas City and joined Orthopaedic Professional Association, Inc. in 1990. Dr. Maguire was certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1993.

George G. Robinson, II, M.D.

Dr. Robinson graduated from Vanderbilt University and completed his orthopaedic training at the University of Kansas.

John N. Voni, M.D.

S. Reddy Katta, M.D.

Dr. Katta graduated from Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada, India. He then trained additionally at the French and Polyclinic Medical School in New York as the house physician for orthopaedic surgery. He completed his Physical Medicine degree at Baylor in Houston, Texas. Dr. Katta has worked at Tulane University and the VA Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisianna.
