    About OrthoKC

Sports Medicine is included within the scope of our practice, and we perform arthroscopic surgery. APPOINTMENTS

In an attempt to provide efficient delivery of your health care, patients are seen by appointment only. The staff are instructed to ask you a few questions about the nature of your problem so that your care can be properly directed and sufficient time arranged for your visit with us. You should bring your X-rays, health insurance cards and a referral form from your primary care physician to your appointment.

Appointments can be made by phoning the office during our regular hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. If you require emergency attention outside of our regular hours, one of the doctors on call may be reached by calling the office telephone number.

Please call to cancel your appointment if you cannot keep it or feel you no longer need to be seen. Our staff can reschedule the appointment and let another patient be seen in your time slot. This allows us to accommodate the scheduling needs of other patients.

If you were injured at work, we need a workers compensation insurance denial or approval. Approvals must have the insurance name address, telephone number and a contact person. Denials are required for your health insurance to pay for your services. Without this information you will be solely responsible for your medical costs.

      TELEPHONE

Our telephone is answered 24 hours every day. After regular office hours and on weekends, the phone is answered by out answering service who will notify the doctor on call of any emergencies.

If you have insurance, we will submit a claim for you and will request that the insurance company reimburse us directly. Small fees are required before disability claim forms will be completed. They will not be completed on the same day of service. We feel that our fees are appropriate and fair. If, however, you have any questions regarding them or a statement you have received, please ask us.

If you encounter difficulty in filing your insurance claim or in getting reimbursed, we will be glad to assist. However, we feel that the basic responsibility for payment tests with the patient. Furthermore, we do not feel that a liability action against someone else is reason to delay your payment of our charges. Discuss any problem in paying your account with our business office. If there is an unusual financial situation we will be happy to set up a monthly payment plan. The payment plan must be followed or we will pursue further collection efforts.

Even though the doctors desire to be on time for each patient and make every effort to do so, some delays in appointments may occur. Patients sometimes present unexpected or more complex problems than anticipated. Emergency cases and delays in the operating room can cause a delay in the schedule. Please try to be understanding should that situation arise. If your time is critical on the day of your appointment, feel free to call ahead to see if the doctor is on schedule.
